At our houses, we all do our best to provide a clean and safe place for our families. But, what happens when we leave our properties?
We have all seen litter while we are out and about but how often do we do anything about it?
Litter can make a place appear less beautiful, seem a little sketchy, or even make a place dangerous. The Earth is home to all of us, join me, and do your part by picking up litter when you can.
Why
By picking up litter you may inspire others to do the same.
You would be doing your part to help your community look its best and be safe for everyone.
Imagine if we all picked up trash when we noticed it.
Challenge yourself to help reduce the litter in the places you visit. Attempt to pick up, and properly dispose of, one piece of trash a day (or about 30 pieces a month).
Together we can make a difference.
I agree. I wrote something similar, but from a slightly different perspective. It is important that we not only not make a mess, but unfortunately have to clean up behind others. This is a well written plea for upkeep of our earthly home.

It annoys me that we even have to do this. Why do people litter in the first place? One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing all the dog poop bags littering our trails every spring when the snow melts. Seriously? Why go to the trouble of bagging the poop only to throw it in the bushes? 😡
I hate seeing dog poop on trails too.
In my neighborhood, there is a sound barrier on the one side and lots of trash collects there from the wind. After the snow melted, I went along and picked up 3 trash bags full of litter. Now that the weather is nice, I’ll pick some up during each of my walks.

Here’s a bit of a dumb perspective … if the poop is on the grass, isn’t it good as fertiliser? I can imagine it is frustrating to find there and to step on it on the sidewalk, but my husband just bought a few bags of stinky fertiliser that smelt like poop and that’s the first thing that came to mind 😅
Haha. I’ve heard you can compost dog poop but it is unhealthy to just leave it sitting around.

Yeah! All that stuff shocked me too when I found out. It’s not like we learn about dog poop in school! I was educated AFTER I adopted my dog, so I made the mistake of not picking up after my dog all the time. You will be ahead of the game.😀🐕

After a few neighborhood walks trying to explain to my kids why there was litter, I decided that I was going to clean it up myself. I want to set a good example for my kids and do my part to make my neighborhood a better place.

People forget that Earth is our home. We are so busy thinking of the self that we don’t stop to think we are part of a global community.
Yes, many people overlook the implications of their actions on a large scale because we are self-absorbed. We can all do better.

It saddens me to see trash all around the city especially when it doesn’t take much to clean up after ourselves. I don’t think I’ve ever stopped to pick any up though, so thanks for highlighting this!
It makes me sad to see trash too. Picking up litter while going about my normal routine has helped make my surroundings look nicer and it has made me happier!
