Thank you Michelle from Boomer Eco Crusader for coming up with this fun blogging tag. Check out her original post, here. The idea is simple. Instead of focusing on all the materialistic parts of the holiday season, the objective is to highlight three simple aspects of the season that bring you joy!
The Rules
- Write a blog post explaining three simple things that bring you joy at this time of year.
- Link back to the original post.

3 Simple Holiday Joys
Snow
Snow is magical. I love seeing the first snow of winter, even if it is just a few flurries. Whenever it snows, I like to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and watch. I’ve always enjoyed watching the snow fall or being able to look out on a smooth, undistrubed snow-covered landscape. Since having kids it has become even more of a enchanting experience because I get to watch them enjoy it as well.
Lights
I don’t decorate my home with many knick-knacks for the holidays. For the most part, I put up my Christmas tree and lights. It may not seem like much but I think the lights really create a wonderful atmosphere. I have lights around my tree, lights around my bookshelf, lights around my front window, and lights draped around my end table. I even have lights around the house plant I keep on my desk. First thing in the morning and soon after the sun sets, we typically don’t have many other lights on in our home except for our Christmas lights. The lights help to create a calm atmosphere and I very much look forward to it.
Family Togetherness
Around the holidays I enjoy the extra time I get with my family. My husband gets time off of work and my daughter gets time off of school. Extra activities are paused and what we have left is glorious time together. I love this extra time no matter how we end up spending it.
My Nominations
Thanks for participating Suzanne. I agree that the Christmas lights are very calming—except those noisy, musical lights. We made the mistake of buying a set of those for our tree years ago. I think we used them one year! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
haha! That would drive me crazy too. Merry Christmas to you too! I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Love this! I especially like the lights. The Christmas lights add a warm glow to the room. I also like see our neighborhood decked out in holiday lights!
I love checking out other people’s lights too! Friday night we are going to drive around to just look for Christmas lights.
Thanks for tagging me! This is such a lovely idea. I’ll definitely do this on my blog as well :)..
Great! I can’t wait to read your post.
Love this! We have one strand of blue lights in our bedroom and it creates such a sense of calm. And I also wrote about snow!
Blue lights would be really nice! It sounds like we both enjoy the calmness that comes with lighting and now.🙂 Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Sorry it took me so long to respond but your comment ended up in my spam.
My guess is, you don’t have a cat! I enjoyed reading your simple but lovely holiday joys, Suzanne. Wishing you & your family a new year filled with happiness. 🌞
Haha. We don’t. 😁 Happy New Year!
Oh I would definitely love snow, if only my country had the four seasons. Only experienced snow once in my life and that was one of the best experiences ever. Thanks for this post, Suzanne!
I love the snow but I could do without the bitter cold! The last few days have felt like 10 degrees Fahrenheit here. Ahhh!
