Q: What platforms will you use?
A: We’ll be using a mix of local resell stores and consignment partnerships, both online and in person, to get your items sold! Some of our go-to places are Pass It On, Vintique & More, and Wears Like New. We’ve found these places do a great job of finding new homes for pre-loved items.
Q: How will you determine the selling price?
A: Our team will do research to see what similar items have sold for recently to give us a good starting point. For items going to consignment, the reseller will set the final price, but we’ll always aim to find the best fit for your items and their value.
Q: How often will you provide updates on the sales progress?
A: Because consignment contracts are managed separately by our dedicated resale team, our on-site decluttering team won’t have real-time sales updates during your sessions. However, you’re always welcome to check in on the status of your items anytime by emailing us at suzanne@happilydecluttered.com!
Q: What happens if an item doesn’t sell?
A: If an item is under a consignment contract, it typically becomes the property of the store after the contract ends. For items our team is handling directly, if they don’t find a buyer, we’ll explore options like donating, repurposing, recycling, or responsibly disposing of them. We will always make sure your items are handled in a way you are completely comfortable with.
Q: How long are the consignment contracts?
A: Most consignment contracts run for about 30 to 90 days. This can vary a little depending on the specific store and the type of items.
Q: What percentage of sales do I earn?
A: The percentage split varies depending on the consignment partner, and we work with places that offer different options, like 60/40, 50/50, or 30/70. Our main goal is to get you the best possible return, so after sorting your items, we’ll choose the option that makes the most sense for maximizing your earnings.
Q: When and how will I receive payment?
A: Payments are processed on a monthly basis whenever your earned balance exceeds $50 or after all of your consignment contracts are fully complete. Payments will be sent by check unless you request an alternative form of payment.
