Between work, hobbies, home projects, school activities, family functions, volunteering, sports, etc. a lot is being asked of us. Many times we mindlessly say ‘yes’ to most things, if not everything. But every time we say ‘yes’ to a commitment we have to remember that we are saying ‘no’ to something else.

Before adding a commitment to your schedule, take an extra second and ask yourself if it is worth it.
Not all of us will come to the same conclusion about if a commitment is worth it or not because we all have different priorities and goals. But, we should be thinking about those priorities and goals before we say ‘yes’.
Weigh the pros and cons of what is taking up your time. Do your commitments align with your goals and priorities?

Good question to ask – it’s can all add up! Thanks for the reminder!
It does add up quickly! I like to reassess my commitments regularly.
This makes so much sense. It seems a lot of people in our world wear their busyness like some sort of badge of honour. It’s important to ask ourselves if the commitment aligns with our goals and priorities. If it doesn’t, it’s okay to say no!
Yes! I’m always puzzled when people brag about being busy. I don’t want to rush my life by.
Lately I’ve been thinking how important it is to value our time, because we tend to act as though we have all the time in the world, but once we realise that each minute is another minute we won’t get back, it becomes important to evaluate our commitments. Thanks for this post!
Indeed! 😁
It’s hard to give something up without feeling like a quitter, but if you can recognise where you are choosing to scale and focus instead of spreading yourself thin it can be much more fulfilling
Well said. I agree!
This came at a good time.
I always love finding a post right when I need it. I’m glad my post came at the right time for you!
Great question, Suzanne. We make time for what’s important, and extra commitments can rob us of that time. Also, overcommitting can take away hours we might otherwise rest. Never a good thing. Have a great week! 🌞
I agree. I see a lot of people around here packing their schedules and also the schedules of their children. It would be nice if more people questioned their commitments.
